Say YES! to Healthy Hair with Formulate

I’ve been devoted to my hair for as long as I remembered. Growing up I saw hair as a way to have fun and show my personality. I went to an all girls private school and we would all wear our uniform for the entire year except for once a month. We used to call it “Jeans Day”, a day where we didn’t have to wear our uniform and wear our favorite outfit instead. I could care less about my outfit, all I wanted was for my mom to make my hair look great. I was that girl with the extravagant look inspired by Mel B from The Spice Girls, but instead of her two buns hairstyle, I would do multiple buns around my head! Yes, I went to school like that. No regrets haha!

Later on, as a teenager, hair became more than an outlet to show my personality, but a beauty standard. I wanted to have  STRAIGHT hair at all costs. I have a natural wavy hair, but I would always admire the silky-straight hair of the girls in magazines and for me, that was the only type of hair I desired to have. I would spend hours blowdrying my hair and using the strainer more than once a week. My hair looked straight, but it was brittle, full of split ends and frizzy. Seeing my dull hair was a like a wake-up call for and opened my eyes to the importance of having healthy hair.

After realizing my hair issues, my quest to find the perfect hair products started. I tried various well-recognized brands that I found at my local grocery store, but none exceeded my expectations. After being constantly disappointed, I decided to try some high-end products with the hope that one would work for me. I was a little bit hesitant because I really didn’t want to waste more money just find myself being disappointed again. However, I decided to take the plunge and splurge for the sake of my hair.  After reading tons of reviews, I decided to buy three different shampoos with great reviews, but I end up getting an itchy scalp and not the results I wanted. As I was about to give up, I stumble up  Formulate! Finally, a Shampoo and Conditioner duo that gives my hair exactly what it is asking for!!

My Experience

After trying products after products, I realized that none of the shampoos and conditioners that I was using weren’t tailored for all my hair needs. I have oily- itchy scalp and frizzy-dry ends, and the products I was using would only help me with one problem at a time. But, with Formulate is another story. They manufacture a shampoo and conditioner just for you based on your hair and the environment. Before getting my products I took a detailed online quiz about my hair (color, texture, length, thickness), scalp health, territory where I live and my hair goals/needs. My hair goals were: Frizz-free, med split ends, straighten, hydration and improve my overall scalp health. After 14 days of taking the quiz, I got my hair bundle.  It shipped pretty quickly for a product that it was engineered just for me. The packaging is elegant and clean and their pump system makes it easy to calculate how much of each product should I use.  One thing that definitely sold me right away was the smell. Did I mention you can choose how you want your products to smell? I choose Tidal, which is a tropical-coconut smell.
Formulate also included a small booklet explaining my hair type and goals, directions on how to use both shampoo and conditioner and a brief description of some of the ingredients. I really appreciate the fact that they take the time to inform their customers about what are they using in their hair. Formulate definitely pass the first impression test!

I started my Formulate Journey on October the 13th. I use it three times a week. I use 6 pumps of shampoo (twice) and then 6 pumps of conditioner and leave it for 3 minutes. Then rinse it with cold water to close the cuticle and combat frizz.

I’ve been using formulate for about 6 weeks and I couldn’t be happier. I am going to be honest with you, the first formula I got didn’t work for me, but Sam (Formulate’s representative) work with me in order to get just the right formula for my hair. That is the definitely the highlight of  Formulate, they will patiently work with you until you get the results you desire. Now I can definitely see an improvement ! my hair is more manageable, has no visible split ends, is no longer dry and frizzy and my scalp feels so clean and nourished after every wash.

Why Formulate?

1.The “chemist-to-consumer” movement
Formulate is a group of industry-leading chemists & engineers (You are in great hands!) that want to put an end to the guess & test process, oversold trend driven gimmicks, and product waste.

2.Sulfate-Free
Did you know that sulfate is what causes that stinging sensation when shampoo gets in your eyes? Besides the irritation it can generate, sulfates can also dry your hair and skin. With Formulate, you won’t have to worry about getting any dry-skin issues.

3.Paraben and Preservative -Free
I’ve read various articles on how  Parabens and Preservatives are not only bad for your hair, but also for your overall health. I don’t want to get into many details, but Better safe than sorry!

4. Cruelty-Free
I think you know by now that I am an advocate for cruelty-free products and all the products you have seen on my blog are cruelty-free. No more animal testing!!

Formulate has taken my hair care to another level. I no longer desired to constantly straight my hair hoping it will look “beautiful”. Now I care more about nourishing my hair and keeping it healthy. Thanks to Formulate I feel confident with my wavy hair, and I only style it when needed!
