“This is the season of giving,” they say. The season to give to those we love and care for. Those who have been with us during the good times and the rough times. We want to give them something special as a way of saying thank you. So, we rushed to the mall and we lose our gourds as we scroll through multiple websites trying to search for that Perfect gift. As our time is ticking we get anxious while gift-shopping and we tend to forget that there are many people out there we should give to besides our loved ones. People who will appreciate it tremendously and will be forever grateful!

Today I am sharing with you how you can put a smile on the faces of many hardworking and heartwarming Brookwood Community citizens.

The Brookwood community was founded in 1985 for adults who are functionally disabled (adults with mental and sometimes physical disabilities preventing them from living in society on their own). Besides providing their citizens with a peaceful and soothing atmosphere, Brookwood’s purpose  is to provide opportunity through education so that its Citizens will:
-Acquire meaningful job skills and hold real jobs in the community’s own business enterprises.
-Experience the pride that accompanies the ability to contribute to one’s own support.
-Grow socially, emotionally and spiritually.

Gift Shop
The Brookwood community has its own shop and I am seriously in love with it. They have the most unique crafts and goodies made by their citizens. They have things for everyone’s tastes. Seasonal decor, bath products (highly scented soaps, Yes Please!), baskets full of yummy goodies, jewelry, toys for the kids, apparel, and last but not least there is an Art Gallery inside the store! Of course, they have many other things, but you need to visit the store and see it for yourself! 

Gardens
The gardens are jaw-dropping and the plants they sell are stunning. As soon as I walked into their greenhouse I was completely amazed by the many poinsettias in vibrant red, salmon and yellow colors. I’ve never seen so many in just open place. I was in the middle of a sea of poinsettias! Simply breathtaking!
The Brookwood horticulture department began with two greenhouses and a small tree house. Nowadays consists of 47 greenhouses! The citizens of the Brookwood community work so hard to plant and care for 48,000 poinsettias each season. The iconic holiday plant is the biggest seller in their retail store and let’s be honest who can resist to these beautiful poinsettias during this time of the year.
