For Wine and Cheese Lovers- Tips for a wine and cheese party + Gift Guide

Blog post

Wine and Cheese pairing has been popular for centuries and let’s be honest you can never go wrong when serving these two at any occasion. They are just the perfect pair that can make any event an exquisite experience. Nowadays wine and cheese have become more than just an appetizer. It is actually an excuse to get together with friends and family.
Since there’s nothing better than to enjoy good food with great company. Today I am sharing with you some tips that can be of help when throwing your own wine and cheese party. Plus a gift guide that includes various wine and cheese accessories for that special someone who can’t resist the mouthwatering combination of wine + cheese.

Tips for a wine and cheese pairing experience:

1 .  Know your guests’ taste on wine and cheese
You  want to please your guest as much as you want, so asking your family and friends about their favorite wine would give you an idea of which type of cheese you should buy.

2.  Pair Cheese and Wine from the same regions
If you are not sure if a certain cheese will go well with your favorite wine. You can always choose a cheese from the same region as your wine. In my opinion, Brie cheese and Chardonnay is a total crowd pleaser.

3. Add some cured meats, jams, paté to your cheese board
You want your guest to indulge in an infinite number of flavors. Yes, wine and cheese are spectacular by themselves, but it is always good to spice things up and let our taste buds explore the deliciousness of goat cheese and fig jam.
Some of my favorite things to add to my cheese board ( or charcuterie board): Pepperoni, prosciutto, jamon serrano, fig jam, foie gras ( duck paté), olives and almonds.

4. Be creative and serve a special drink to impress your guests
I would generally advise you to serve Sangria as your special drink. There are thousands of recipes online and even holiday themed ones. But if you really want to impress your friends I would go for a Mulled Wine, which is perfect for the cold weather. A mulled wine is a wine based warm drink originated in Europe and very popular in the UK during this time of the year. I would describe as sweet, spicy and fruity!

5. Always use Cheese markers
I’ve been to many dinners and get-togethers where I have enjoyed good cheese, but I ended up going home confused and wondering what type of cheese did I eat since none of them were marked. I feel like marking your cheese is very important and very useful for both the host and guests.

6. Serving temperature and portions is important

Cheese: Serve it in big portions so each one of your guests can cut as much cheese as they want. When it comes to temperature, take out the cheese from the refrigerator two hours before serving it.

Wine: Display all the bottles on a table and let your guests pour as much wine as they want. White wines should be served at 45 to 50 °F  and Red wines at 50 to 65°F.
